US Trip: California Disney

Since we were in Southern California, we figured we'd better go to Disneyland. So, we did. But I did something incredibly stupid. I took my 3 kids (3 yr, 2 yr, and 0 yr) without Dad... And I have to say, it was nothing but torture...

カリフォルニアディズニーに行ってまいりました。カリフォルニアのディズニーは、ディズニーランドとカリフォルニアアドベンチャーが隣接しており、パークホッパーチケットを購入すると、両方遊ぶことができるのです。（もちろん１日のパークチケットは、ホッパーの方が高額ですが。）

But Ellie and Julia enjoyed pretty good. As soon as we entered into the park, we got to see Playhouse Disney Live Show. That got them REALLY excited.

エリとジュリアは、東京ディズニーしか経験したことがないので、カリフォルニアは初めて。でも、ディズニーランドだということは、近づくにつれて分かってきているので、徐々に興奮が高まります。

まずは、カリフォルニアディズニーに入ってみることにしました。もちろん、年上の子供たち用ライドも充実しているのですが、エリやジュリアぐらいの子供も十分遊べる、バグスライフランドや、プレイハウスディズニーのライブショーがあり、子供たちは大興奮でした。Also, they got a picture with Mr. Incredible and Minny. Julia was still not sure about these characters, but she didn't cry, so I'm assuming she is starting to get used to it. (last year she cried hard...)

ミスター・インクレディブル＆ミニーと一緒に、記念撮影♪ジュリアは、なきはしませんでしたが、未だに着ぐるみ系は少々怖いようです。The best thing is that Yumiko, Haruka, and Gerard Jorgensen came and met us later, and it was so much fun after that! Kids had so much fun with Gerard and Haruka. They were trying to get as much rides as they could get on. Ellie didn't want to go home.

夕方、前に東京に住んでいたJorgensen家族が合流してくれ、救われました。（ホント、神の救いかと思いました！）ジェラとハルカが子供たちをたくさんのライドに連れて行ってくれて、子供たちは更に大興奮。（でも、ジュリアは体力の限界でしたが…。）エリは、「I don't want to go home!（おうちに帰りたくなーい！）」とまで宣言。よほど楽しかったのでしょう…。Overall, kids had fun. I was exhausted and had to crush into Jorgensen's home... Thank you SOOOO much, Jorgensens!

なにはともあれ、とっても楽しかったようです。マミーは疲れすぎて、その夜、サンディエゴまで帰れず、Jorgensen家に泊めていただきました。ゆみこさん、ありがとう！！！

Julia is 2!!

Happy Happy Birthday, Julia!!

My little girl is now 2!! I just cannot believe how fast time flies. I still clearly remember beautiful cherry blossoms outside when when she was born. Ellie was only 15 months and she could not say Julia, so she called her JuJu. It has already been 2 years since then and Juju is now talking...

ジュリアがとうとう2歳になりました！！時の流れははやい…。

2年前の今頃、桜が美しい次期に、Stocker家の次女として、寿理亜・さくら・Stockerが誕生しました。当時1歳3ヶ月だったエリが「ジュリア」と発音できず、「じゅじゅ」と呼んでいたので、ニックネームはじゅじゅ。それからはや2年。じゅじゅのニックネームも定着し、ジュリアはもうお話をしています。
We had a little birthday party for Julia. Julia's birthday dinner was all her favorite foods. Since Julia loves food in general and she is pleased as long as there is food, so it isn't too hard to make her happy.

ささやかなジュリアのお誕生パーティーを開催です。ジュリアのバースデーディナーは、ジュリアの好物を用意。もりもり食べておりました。ジュリアは食べるのが大好き！食べ物さえあればいつでもハッピーなじゅじゅです。
Julia's cake this year was a bear. Cake baking is simple and fast even I do from scratch. It took time because I wanted to put Julia's favorite fruits between the cake layers. The decoration was quite a bit of work. I had a tough time getting a brown color in my cream. I used coco powder but required a lot. I think decoration part was more of struggle this time.

今年のジュリアのケーキは、クマさん。土台のケーキは簡単だったのですが、クリームで茶色を出すのに苦戦し、デコレーションに思った以上の時間がかかってしまいました。ジュリアの好物はフルーツなのですが、クマだったのでフルーツでデコレーションができない為、レイヤー部分に沢山フルーツを入れました。完成したクマは、ちょっといびつですが、まぁ良しとしましょう…。
Julia seemed she liked the bear cake. Ellie seemed more excited about bear cake than Julia though. She was so happy when the cake showed up.

ジュリアはケーキを気に入ってくれた模様。それよりなにより、クマのケーキを見て大興奮したのが、エリ。「きゃーっ！！」と大絶叫で喜んでおりました。エリのケーキじゃないんだけど…。
Julia finished her first serving of the cake. (I made it from scratch so everything has less sugar.) Of course she wanted more, so she cried and cried to get a second helping. Then, she just wanted the "good stuff" and scraped the top cream and middle fruits and returned the rest. I guess cream and fruits are her favorites...

ジュリアは最初のケーキを完食！（もちろん全ても手作りなので砂糖はばっちり減らして作ってます♪）おかわりが欲しくて泣きじゃくり、もらったケーキはスポンジを残し、クリームとフルーツを完食の後、「なーないの」（いらないの）と言って返してました…。
Then, present opening time came. Ellie knew it was Julia's birthday, but she could not resist from her strong desire to open Julia presents. Since Ellie took over Julia's role on her birthday, she got in trouble... Poor Ellie.

ケーキの後はプレゼント。「今日はじゅじゅの誕生日。」と、わかってはいたエリですが、ジュリアのプレゼントを開けたくて仕方なかったエリは、ジュリアの役目を横取りし、ちょっぴりダディに怒られました。
Julia got a baby doll and a toy stroller. She did get a stroller for last Christmas. But there were too many times that she had to suffer from her stroller taken away by her older sister. So, I think she was happy to receive her new one now. (Ellie thinks the stroller that Julia got last Christmas was Ellie's.) Girls now exchange their strollers, so I think all is good.

一方、プレゼントをゲットしたジュリアは、大満足の笑顔。早速新しいプレゼントで大はしゃぎです。

Snow Play

3 day weekend here in Japan, and we decided to go up in Fukushima to see Mike's college buddy, Shohei.

3月の3連休。久しぶりにマイケルの大学の友人に会うため、福島まで行ってまいりました。

First day, we passed Fukushima and went to Alts Bandai Ski Resort. This is one of our favorite resorts. Snow is great and there is a daycare facility where kids can have fun while parents are having fun. Unfortunately we could not get there this year since Noah was not old enough (they take kids from 6 months.) So, we decided to just stop by and have kids play in the snow.

連休初日。福島を超え、磐梯山のふもと、アルツスキーリゾートまで。このスキーリゾート、ストウカー家のご用達。雪もそこそこ良質で、パウダーもあり。ホテルは素敵な温泉付きで疲れた体を癒せ、さらに託児施設が整っており、子供を安心して預け両親はスノボを満喫できる。最高です。ま、今年は残念ながらノアが6ヶ月以下だったため行くことができなかったのですが、来年こそは、とお思ってます。というわけで、今回は子供達の雪遊びが目的でやってきたのでした。

Well, we definitely expected more snow, but there are hardly any. I guess there were several nice warm days before we got here and snow had melted. Bummer. But since we came all the way, we decided to play a little in the snow.

ところがなんと着いてびっくり。雪がほとんどない！！ま、ここ数日暖かい日が続いたから、溶けてしまった模様。残念…。でも、せっかく来たので、ちょっとだけ遊んできました。Ellie had a lot of fun sledding. Julia was more on making snow man. They were cold and were done in 1 hour, but they certainly enjoyed.

エリはそり滑り。ジュリアは雪ダルマ作り。それぞれ全く違うことをやってましたが、それなりに楽しかったようです。それでもさすがに寒かった模様。1時間ぐらいで「かえるぅ～。」

ま、グランマの家のユタのゴージャスな雪と比較したら申し訳ないほど寂しー雪でしたが、とりあえずちょっとは楽しめたようです。

Ellie and Ballet

We are starting to investigate what Ellie likes to do. She tells me that she wants to take Ballet lesson and dance like June (from "Little Einsteins")So we went our for Ellie's ballet trial.

現在、エリの興味がどの方向に向くのか試行錯誤中です。以前より、「ジューン（ディズニー「リトル・アインシュタイン」のキャラクター）みたいに、バレエを踊るの～♪」と意気込んでいたこともあり、まずはバレエの体験レッスンを数箇所、トライしてみました。

What is important to Ellie is not what she does but how she looks. She needed to look like her other ballet friends. So, we had to go get her ballet leotard nearby our house. I tried to talk to her into getting a simple pink one, but she was so set for this "green pretty one".

現在のエリにとって重要なことは、バレエそのものではなく、「見た目」。最初の体験では、アメリカでゲットしたダンス用レオタードでトライしたのですが、どうもお気に召さず…。体験後その足で、近所のオペラシティ内コッペリア雑貨店まで、連れて行かれされました…。

エリが気に入ったのは、エメラルド色のレオタード。「ピンクの方がかわいいんじゃない？」というマミーの声も無視。「これがいいのっ！！」ダディいわく、この頑固さはマミー似らしいです。She had to put it on right away. Julia was so jealous and she needed to look like her sister, so I just put her in the ones that we had at home. It is way too big (I sawed it smaller but length is too long) but she loved it. So I guess it's ok.

帰ったらもちろん即試着。ずいぶんとお気に召したようで、今までに学んだバレエポーズをご披露いただきました。

さてさて、羨ましいのはもちろんジュリア。仕方ないので、ダンスレオタードを着せ、急遽安全ピンでサイズ調節したダンス用スカートを着用。もちろん飛び切り大きいのですが、当の本人は、大満足のご様子。エリと一緒にバレエポーズです。

Tanaka Women's Clinic

I have to say that I absolutely LOVE my hospital for giving birth to 3rd child. My friend, Laura, introduced me to Tanaka Women's Clinic and it has been my favorite clinic ever since.

今回の出産でお世話になったのは、前回ジュリアの時と同様、私の一番お気に入りの産婦人科、田中ウィメンズクリニックです。この病院は、以前お友達のLauraから紹介してもらい、それ以後「出産はこの病院しかない！」と断言しているぐらい、すばらしい産婦人科医院です♪

Here's the list of things that I like about Tanaka's.

お気に入りの理由はというと…

1. Painless delivery! 無痛分娩の老舗！

Dr. Tanaka is an anesthetist and he gives epidural to all of his patients. I hear he is the first doctor who brought in epidural technique to Japan. My delivery was totally nice and calm. I was checking emails during my labor until very last minute of my delivery.

このクリニックは、完全無痛分娩。田中院長は麻酔科のドクターで、硬膜外麻酔の無痛分娩を日本で初めて導入した方だとか。おかげさまで大きさのわりに出産は全く問題なく、逆に快適でした。陣痛の真っ只中にメールチェックしてた私。快適さを物語っているでしょ♪

2. Scheduled delivery　計画出産

This is another beautiful thing about Tanaka's. We don't have to wait until labor comes! And we get to pick baby birthday! Ellie and Julia were both born on the 6th, so we decided to have this baby on the 6th as well.

こちらでは、計画出産を行っているので、なんと自然陣痛を待つ必要がないのです。おまけに出産日も選べたりする。エリとジュリアは（これは単なる偶然だけど）、２人とも６日生まれなので、今回も６日に出産できました。（おかげでおなかの中で育ってしまい、結局4,000kg越えだったけど）

3. Gorgeous meals during my hospital stay　ゴージャスなお食事

I love every meal during my stay at Tanaka's. They totally accommodated with my diet (no coffee, no tea, etc.) and I had wonderful time on every meal!

病院滞在中のお食事がこれまた豪華なこと！さりげなーく伊勢えびやあわびが、病院の食事メニューに並んでいるのです。おまけに宗教上の理由で食べれないものや飲めないものにも快く対応してくれて、特別別メニューをいただいてしまいました♪

4. Friendly nurses　フレンドリーでアットホームな環境

My stay was gorgeous! I was treated so nice and loved my stay at Tanaka's. Mike told people that I was staying at the hotel instead of hospital. I have to agree that my stay was as nice as hotel stay.

助産師さんやドクターの皆様、みーんなとっても気さくで話しやすく相談にものってくれて、入院生活を楽しく過ごしました。マイケルなんか、「うちの妻は今ホテルにいるから。」とかジョーク飛ばしてましたが、まんざら全て冗談でもないと思えるほど、快適な入院生活でした♪

田中先生と生まれたばかり（それも直後）の息子です。ジュリアもこんな感じで田中先生にとりあげていただきました。

Ellie and pantie

エリちゃん、完全オムツ卒業です！イェーイ！！

We have been pretty successful on Ellie's potty training. Ellie has been out of diaper for almost 1 months and no accidents now.

エリのトイレトレーニング、完了です。エリのオムツをはずしてほぼ1ヶ月、おモラシは全くないので、完了ステータスとしましょう♪

We started as soon as we came back from the US (2nd week of June). She was able to do #2 even she had a diaper on, and her friends have been training around her. So, we figured we give a shot and see what happens.

エリのトイレトレーニングは、アメリカから帰ってきた直後から始めました。（6月2週目ぐらいからでしょうか。）その前から、オムツをはいていても大の方はちゃんとする前に教えてくれていてトイレでできていたりしてたので、大丈夫かしら、と思い試しに始めてみることにしました。あと、お友達の影響も強くあったかな。

She refused to go to the bathroon, so we had 3 accidents on Day 1. Daddy was ready to quit, but Mommy wanted to continue. (Of course Mommy won and we continued.) Day 2 and 3, no accidents (she listened and went to potty when Mommy told her to go.) Day 4, Ellie had 1 accident, and not much aafter that. (there were several more like... she was in the bathroom but her pants were tight and she couldn't get it off fast enough, she wanted to be a boy and tried to stand to pee and got the pantie wet, she was at someone's house and wasn't sure what to do, etc. but not a major one.) As I recall, we only dealt with major accident during the first week of her potty training.

当時のエリは、トイレに全く行きたがらなかったので（「行こう」と言っても「ヤダ！」と言われ…）、初日3回おもらしがありました。2日目、3日目はほとんどおもらし無し。ちゃんとトイレに行ってくれました。そして4日目、でっかいおもらしが1回。でも、その後はおもらしほとんど無しでした！（ま、ズボンがきつくて脱げず間に合わなかったり、男の子のまねして立ってみたかったりして失敗したり、お友達の家にいてMommyもいなくてどうしていいかわかんなかったりとかはありましたが…。）今思えば、最初の1週間のトイレトレーニングがほとんどでその後は大丈夫でした！

Accidents mostly happened because she refused to go to the bathroom since we asked too many times. So, what I did is that I asked once and didn't ask anymore (and I did that when she was wearing her favorite pantie.) That gave her a lesson that her needs to go to the bathroom if she wants to wear her favorite pantie. Ever since then, her accidnets decreased enormously.

おもらしは、エリが「トイレに行きたいくないっ！」と主張しまくっていたのがほとんどの原因です。それもマミーが1時間おきぐらいにねほりはほり聞いていたから…。なので、一度聞いてその後は聞かないことにしました。それもいちばんお気に入りのパンツをはいているときに。そしたら、それがいい結果を招いたようです。トイレに行かないと、お気に入りのパンツがぬれてはけなくなってしまうことを発見したらしいエリは、その後はちゃんとトイレに行くようになりました♪

By the way, this is one of her favorite panties. She likes flower and butterfly ones (which I purchased in Philipines awhile ago.) This is totally a wrong way of wearing a pantie and Ellie knows that (she'd better know...) And just to note that this is a clean one came directly out of the washer/drier.

ちなみに、これがエリのお気に入りのパンツのひとつ。お花とちょうちょがついているのがいいらしい。マニラで格安で購入した最初のパンツなので質は良くないと思うんだけど、どうやらお気にめしたよう…。他にもかわいいやついっぱい買ってあげたのに、他のには興味を示しません…。この日のエリちゃん、パンツをかぶってみました。（洗ったばかりのきれいなやつです！！）

Children's Castle Paly Day

Today was Saturday and it was raining unfortunately. So we went to the Children's Castle in Shibuya. We were not able to go on the deck but play area were huge and there were even a sectioned area for Julia's age kids to play. Music room was so much fun for the kids. Ellie and Julia had too much fun.

今日は土曜日、しかし朝から雨。そこで、家の近くのこどもの城に家族で行くことにしました。雨だったので、屋外の遊び場には出られなかったけど、それでも音楽広場やプレイルーム、ジュリアの年の子供達の遊べるエリア等、エリとジュリアが十分楽しめました。うちの近くにこんなキッズフレンドリーな場所があるのって、いいわー。と改めて感じてしまっていた次第です。今日はDaddyも一緒だったので、子供達はことさらハッピーでした。

Julia's favorite was the kitchen area. She sat on the table and was cooking for a long time. Ellie was first playing at the big kids area with slides and ropes, but she later joined with Julia and cooked together.

ジュリアのお気に入りは、キッチン。座ってひたすらお料理でした。エリは、隣の固定遊具でずっと遊んでいたのですが、そのうちジュリアにまざってお料理です。いったい何ができたのでしょう・・・。



We met Ellie's friend there and found out that there was a little concert. So, we deicded to go see the concert at the music room. There were many musical instruments for Ellie and Julia to play with. Ellie found a xirophone, Juila liked playing a drum. They both played hard in that room.

なかでたまたまエリの保育園のお友達に遭遇です。お友達ママに教えてもらい、11時半から音楽演奏があるとのことで、楽器のお部屋に繰り出しました。演奏を聞いた後、自由に楽器をかき鳴らしていたエリちゃんです。ジュリアは太鼓がお気に入り。必死な形相で太鼓をたたいておりました。



After that, we had lunch around Children's Castle and came home for kids naps. It was a fun day!

その後、ちょっとしたアクシデントもありましたが、結局こどもの城周辺でランチを食べ、お昼寝の時間になってしまったので、おうちに戻ってまいりました。でも、十分楽しい一日でした♪

First Time at Playgroup in Hatsudai

Ellie and Julia joined in a playgroup nearby our home. Anthon's Mom, Shelley introduced to us and we did our trial today. Ellie and Julia had a lot of fun with everyone (or every toy). We think this will be something that we enjoy every Friday from now on.
初台で毎週やってるプレイグループに初参加です。AnthonやJacobも一緒でした。
Ellie and Anthon seemed to have a blast time with bunch of toys.

Ski Trip to Alts Bandai Resort

We went on a ski trip again with Ken. This time we went to Alts Bandai Resort in Fukushima. The resort was very nice and the snow condition was perfect. We certainly enjoyed riding on beautiful powder snow.
今週末はKenの最後の日本での週末なので、またまたスキーに行くことにしました。今回はアルツ磐梯スキーリゾートです。スキー場はとても広く、雪のコンディションもとても良好。すばらしいパウダースノーを楽しんでまいりました。
とてもかわいい託児施設や雪遊び広場もあり、エリとジュリアも大満足です。ただ、ホテルと託児ハウスがちょっと離れているので、そりがあると便利です。さらに、小さな子供連れにはぴったりのホテルのお部屋、キッズルームがあり、ロフトの広々ベッドでチャイルドロックも完備され、とっても快適に過ごしました。子供連れのスキーにはとってもオススメのスキー場です。ぜひ、また行きたいと思います。

The senary from the top of mountain was beautiful. Ski was clear and we could see the beautiful Inawashiro lake below. And boys had too much fun going through the trees.
猪苗代湖を眼下にすばらしい景色を楽しめました。KenとMikeはパウダースノーに大満足です。

The resort had Onsen place and we all had a nice relaxing time. Ellie and Juila were having fun with the animal ride.
夜は温泉につかり、まったりとリラックスです。エリとジュリアは動物ののりものに大満足♪

Phil & Ted e3

このベビーカーは、とても便利に使っております。ニュージーランド、Phil & Teds社のe3というモデルなのですが、とっても便利です。なんといっても二人乗りオプションでしょう。写真での二人乗り以外にも、新生児対応で、下をフラットにした二人乗りオプションもあるのです！！

タイヤが大きいので運転しやすさも◎！こどもが２人いるママさんに超おすすめアイテムです。ジュリアが生まれたときに購入したのですが、買ってよかった～！あまりに素敵すぎて、バッグやレインカバー等付属品も購入しております。

横幅がちょっと広いので、電車移動の際はご注意です。

Baby Cereal

離乳食のお役立ちアイテムのひとつが、これ。ベビーシリアルです。お湯でまぜるだけで、あっという間に離乳食ができてしまう。これだけでは味が単調なので、すりおろしにんじんやほうれん草を混ぜたりしてあげてます。里帰りでアメリカに行くと、まとめ買いしてくるのがこれです。

Baby Food Tip

I make my own baby food, like carrots, rice, squash (Kabocha), etc. Then, I store them in ice cube tray to freeze. Once it is frozen, you take it out and put them in a ziplock bag. This way, I can store them in a cube and defros as many as I need. This strategy has been working very well. I do this with everything now and it is very handy, especially when you don't have time.

This is just a tip for Moms!

離乳食の保存方法で、うちは一度にたくさん作って製氷トレーで凍らせます。そうすると、取り出すときには氷のサイズになり、Ziplockバッグに入れて冷凍室に入れておくと場所もとらずとーっても便利。さらに使うときには氷サイズだから、初期のベビーの量にぴったり。すっごく便利な方法です。
ジュリアは、おかゆをはじめ、ほうれん草、にんじん、かぼちゃ、サツマイモ、ジャガイモ等々を食べていましたが、最近はお魚やお肉も好きで、たらやささみのひき肉も食べてまーす。
