Hinamatsuri Dolls

March 3 is Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day) in Japan. Since we have 2 girls, we decided to decorate our house with traditional Japanese dolls. A little late to bring out, but we still have over a week and I think it is ok.

お雛祭りが近いので、うちでも雛人形を飾りました。ちょっと遅くなってしまったけど、まだ１週間以上あるし、大丈夫かしら？？
I remember I had 3 layered one when I was little. The girls only has first layer, but they are really beautiful. They even have their name written down in stylish wooden plates. (Ellie on right, Julia on left) Girls love their dolls.

エリ、ジュリアとも、気に入っているようで、お雛様を飾ったとたん、エリは大興奮でした。（ちなみにジュリアのプレートは、追加で秀月さんにわざわざ書いてもらえたのです♪）

Now we have Noah this year for Boys' Day in May. We'll have to worry about his Samurai armor very soon...

さて、今年はノアの初節句。五月人形の下見に出かけなければ…。

Ellie's Valentine Cookies

Mommy and Ellie made valentine cookies together, while Daddy took Julia aka "the destroyer" out for errands, so we could make cookies peacefully. Our friend, Kacchan, joined us and we had fun making cookies.

エリとマミーで、バレンタインクッキーを作りました。ジュリアは破壊専門なので、今度ばかりはちょっとダディーとお出かけしていただくことに。お友達のＫちゃんもいらして、楽しくクッキー作りです。

Our friend, the Rich family, gave Ellie a baking set for her birthday awhile ago. Ellie didn't get to use it until now. She has her own cookie cutter, apron, measuring spoons, etc. She was really excited that she get to use almost all her stuff.

Rich家族からエリのお誕生日にいただいた、BED BATH & BEYONDの子供用クッキングセットを始めて使いました。エプロン、泡だて器、計量スプーン、クッキーカッター、ローリングピン、等々、全部小さめの子供サイズ。エリは自分だけのクッキングセットが使えることに大興奮です。

Mommy made cookie dough, and Ellie rolled out the dough and made bunch of heart-shaped cookies. During baking, Ellie sat in front of the oven and reported how cookies were every minute. Then, she decorated cookies with frosting and sprinkles.

あらかじめマミーが作っておいたクッキードウをローリングピンで伸ばします。最初は粘土と勘違いしたようで、伸ばしては捏ねて、の繰り返しでした。「捏ねなくていいのよ。」と教えると意外と素直に納得。伸ばしたら今度はクッキーカッターを使って型抜きをします。やっぱりバレンタインなのでハート型。クッキーカッターも子供サイズの小さめなので、たくさんできました。
These are the cookies that Ellie made. These cute sprinkles are gift from Papenfuss family. I thought heart sprinkles would be perfect, but Ellie wanted to do flower, butterfly, turtles, dolphins, and everything...

焼きあがったら、フロスティングとスプリンクルでデコレーション。フロスティングは、仲良しのパペンファス家族から、いただいたものです。ありがとう！

バレンタインなので、ハートのスプリンクルでいいのでは、と思ったのですが、エリはどうやら全部使いたかった様子。イルカ、カメ、お花、ちょうちょと、色々なスプリンクルを全て撒き散らしたので、こんなにおどろおどろした色のクッキーになってしまっております。
Of course she had to be the first one to taste. It seems she was satisfied with her work.

もちろん、製作途中で試食もしているエリです。「おいし～！」と叫んでおりました♪まずまずの出来上がりのクッキーにご満悦です。

Daddy Daughters Date

February 11 is a national holiday in Japan. Daddy wanted to take the girls out for a date, and they went to Shinagawa Aquarium.

2月11日の建国記念日。ダディーがいきなり「ガールズとデートがしたい。」というわけで、エリ、ジュリア、ダディーの3人でしながわ水族館へお出かけです。

Girls were quite happy being with Daddy looking at the fish. They watched shows and had a lot of fun.

久々のダディーとだけのお出かけ。エリもジュリアもお魚は大好きなので、とっても楽しかったようです。

Noah 3 months

Noah is now 3 months and he is growing huge... Well, he started big to begin with. But he is growing like a weed (is what Daddy says) and I cannot even catch up. It is really sad to see my favorite boy outfit no longer fits him. I got so many cute outfits at my baby shower and so sad to put these cutest outfit away... This is one of my favorites from the baby shower.

能亜は3ヶ月になり、とってもビッグに成長してます。生まれたときから大きかったのは事実なのですが、それにしても能亜の成長の早さにびっくりです。ダディーいわく「雑草のようなスピード」で成長しています。ベビーシャワーで皆様にいただいたお気に入りのかわいいお洋服が着れなくなってしまうのを見るのは、非常に切ないです…。

ちなみにこのお洋服は、Yさんからのいただき物♪でも、もうかなりピチピチなのです…。

Mamemaki

February 3rd is Setsubun in Japan. We recognize this day as a beginning of spring and we perform a special ritual to get rid of evil spirit from our home, which is called Mamemaki (bean scattering).

2月3日は節分です。今年もうちで小さな豆まきです。

Ellie and Julia made their own Oni which is a representation of evil spirit. Daddy wore the Oni that Ellie made and became Oni. And all of us threw beans at him. For cleaning purpose, Mommy was trying very hard not to throw too much beans, but girls didn't want to listen. I guess it was too much fun since they don't get to do that type of things too often.

エリとジュリアが鬼のお面を作りました。今年はエリ作の鬼をダディーが被り、みんなで鬼に向かって豆まきです。マミーは家の中で豆を散らかされたくなかったので「ちょっとだけよ！」といっておいたのですが、始まってみたらそんな言葉、完全無視…。小さな手につかみきれんばかりの豆を握り、鬼に向かって投げつけているエリとジュリアでした。

These are Ellie and Julia's original Oni. Of course Ellie's Oni is in yellow, her favorite color. We tried to have Julia wear her own Oni, but she didn't want to (and we should not have forced her to...)

エリとジュリア作の鬼です。エリの鬼はもちろん大好きな黄色。ジュリアはなぜか青。ジュリアにも被ってもらってのツーショット写真が欲しかったのですが、ものすごい勢いで拒絶されてしまいました…。

Girls with spoon

Lately girls like to play with their spoons during meals. Ellie started it and now Julia does the same. Right now, Julia wants to do everything her sister does. She learns good things as well as bad things from her sister...　They do things together and giggle to each other.

なんだかわからないのですが、どうやら食事の時間のスプーン遊びが現在はやっているストウカー家です。エリが始めたスプーンの変な顔、ジュリアも真似してやってます。2人でスプーン銜えて、ケラケラ笑っております。
This is Noah while girls are having fun together. He started smiling.

そのころ、能亜くんはカーペットでおすましです。最近表情豊かになってきて、誰でもニッコリ笑いかけるようになりました。

Primary O-Shogatsu Activity

We have O-shogatsu primary activity. Of course a little too late for O-Shogatsu since it is way passed New Year, but still the same month and we did it anyway.

お正月を語るにはあまりに遅すぎる今日この頃。しかーし、やってしまいました、プライマリー正月アクティビティー。ま、外人ばっかで誰も反対する人がいなかったというのが、一番の理由です。そして、自動的に企画は私になってしまいました。それも、帰国した翌日の開催。疲れました…。

Kids were wearing something Japanese, Kimono, Judo uniform, etc. So, primary presidency dressed up in Kimono's too. We had bunch of Japanese traditional games such as Origami, Hanetsuki, Sumo tournament, etc. I think kids had a lot of fun.

プライマリー会長会も総出で着物着用。着付けに苦労しました…。一方、参加した子供達は楽しんでいたようです。着物、柔道着等に身をつつんだ外人の子友達が、日本の伝統ゲーム（羽根つき、折り紙、かるた等）を楽しむ姿は、日本人の私から見ると少々異様。でも、かなり好評なアクティビティーで、既に来年もやろうという声も…。
Ellie and Julia dressed up in Kimono that our friend gave us for free. The fabric was a little too bright and old, but I guess it was okay. This is Julia being sick of wearing Kimono.

エリとジュリアは、いただき物の（というより無理やり置いていかれた）お着物を着ての参加です。ちょっと古い鮮やかな色ですが、まぁ似合わなくもない。とりあえず文句を言わずに…。ちなみにこれは、着物を着ているのに甚だ疲れたジュリアです。
And we had mock Japanese treat at the end. This is Sushi made out of Rice Krispy treat. Sushi is made by Jill and cupcakes are by Jennifer. I thought these were such a clever idea.

最後はもちろんおやつで終了。今回のおやつ、JillとJenniferが頑張ってくれちゃいました。日本もどきおやつです。Jillの素敵なアイデアで、フェイク寿司が登場！ネタはグミで、シャリはなんとライスクリスピーです！カップケーキはJennifer作です。

Quick Trip to Utah

We made a quick trip to Utah. It was for Mike and Noah, but girls had a lot of fun with their cousins and aunties.

突然で、更に短期間ですが、マイケルの実家に帰省しました。目的は、マイケルとノアでしたが、エリ、ジュリアはいとこ達と十分楽しんでおりました。

First of all, girls were too excited about snow! Ellie was so ready to play in the snow. Julia liked her hat.

まず、真冬のユタは雪です！「雪遊びがしたい。」との要請で、早速雪用のお洋服にお着替え。いつもと違うモコモコの洋服に着替えの時点で大興奮。ジュリアは帽子がお気に入りです。このお帽子は、お友達のKくんママからいただいたお手製です。
Girls had too much fun in the snow. We don't have any in Tokyo, so they were just too happy.

お着替え終了後裏庭へでると、久々に見る雪に更に大興奮です。（前回の訪問時の雪はひょっとしたら覚えていないのかも。）とにかく大はしゃぎでした。
This is Ellie's snow angel. She saw her favorite princess, Belle, making snow angel in the movie and she wanted to be the same.

エリちゃんは、スノーエンジェル作りです。エリの大好きな「美女と野獣」のベルが映画の中でスノーエンジェルを作っているのを見て、「ベルと同じ～！」と大はしゃぎでした。Playing in the snow is a little too much for Noah. He liked being inside with Grandma better than being out in the snow.

もちろん、ノアは家の中でグランマとお留守番です。

マイケルとお姉さん達です。なかなかのショットです。
It was such a short trip, but we did get to see our best and greatest friends in Utah.

短い期間の帰省でしたが、ユタのお友達にはしっかり会う時間を作りました。これだけは欠かせません。

We got to see Papenfuss family and Hough family. They used to live in Tokyo nearby our house. It was so good to see them again.

Papenfuss家族と一緒にHough家に押しかけました。どちらの家族とも、先日まで東京のご近所に住んでいたお友達。突然でゴメンね。でも、とーっても楽しかったです♪また会いましょう！
Right before we left, we got to stay with the Riches, one of our best friends ever. Our girls had too much fun with their girls. Adults had a fun time talking. It was sooo good to see them again! We love you guys!

出発直前に、一番の仲良し家族、Rich家族の家にお邪魔しました。こちらの家族も、東京在住時代からの大の仲良しご家族で、ご近所だったのでいつでも行動を共にしていたのです。会えてうれしかったー♪

エリは久しぶりにMｃKennaに会えてとってもうれしそうでした。大人たちが会話に花を咲かせている中、女の子達みんなで、プリンセスドレスアップです。

Ellie's Birthday Party

Ellie just turned 3 and wanted to have a birthday party. Since we have little Noah, we just something easy and invited some of Ellie's school friends.

エリの3歳のバースデー。生後2ヶ月のベビーがいたので盛大にはできないので、仲良しのお友達を数人お招きしての小さなパーティーをすることにしました。

Ellie informed us that she wanted a "Princess" birthday party. Ellie would have to be a princess and here she is. She was cool with her favorite Elmo balloon... Daddy made a birthday hat. She was so happy when she was all dressed up for her party!

バースデーパーティーのテーマは「プリンセス」、というわけで、エリちゃんはプリンセスドレスでの登場です。（寒かったので普通の洋服の上から着ました…。）ところがバースデーバルーンは、なぜかエルモ…。バースデーハットは、ダディーが作ってくれました。One of Ellie's friends, Lin-chan, got a fever and could not come, but Shu-kun and Kana-chan came and we had a lot of fun. Kana-chan's little brother Yuta-kun also came and Noah had a little friend too. (They just hung out)

お友達のRちゃんが、突然のお熱で来れず…。残念。でも、仲良しのKちゃんとSくんが来てくれました。Kちゃんの赤ちゃんの弟、Yくんも一緒に来てくれて、ノアにもお友達ができました。（といっても2人ともまだ一緒に遊べない赤ちゃんですが…。）
エリは、とっても仲良しのお友達と一緒で、楽しいひと時を過ごしたようです。紙コップでのクラフトに取り組む子供達。ジュリアもなんとなく頑張ってクラフトしました。Mommy made a princess birthday cake. She wanted Belle cake from "Beauty and the Beast." The Belle figure in the cake was Ellie's birthday present!

プリンセスのバースデーケーキ、作りました。（正直大変でした…）エリから、ディズニー映画「美女と野獣」のベルのケーキがいい、とのリクエストがあり、黄色いドレスのプリンセスベルのケーキです。もちろん中のベルのお人形は、エリのバースデープレゼントの一部です。Ellie got birthday presents from her friends. Kana-chan's gift was beautiful yellow flowers. She knew Ellie's favorite color. They were so cute together. Shu-kun was the only boy and Ellie and Kana-chan each gave him a little kiss. So cute!

たくさんのプレゼントもいただきました。Kちゃんからは、エリの大好きな色、黄色のチューリップをいただき、ご満悦。Sくんからはかわいいお菓子せっとをいただきました。そして、唯一の男の子のSくんにはキスでお礼です。Kちゃんも手伝ってくれたりして♪
皆様、エリのバースデーにおいでいただき、本当にありがとう！とってもたのしかったわ～。また、集まろうね♪

Ellie is 3!

Ellie turned 3! Her birthday party is on Saturday, but we did a little birthday celebration just with the family.

エリちゃんが、とうとう3歳です。お友達をお招きしてのバースデーパーティーは土曜日に企画をしているので、お誕生日当日の今日は家族だけの小さなバースデーです。

We got a small cake from our neighborhood cake shop. Ellie was so excited to have her own cake.

ご近所のケーキ屋さんで小さなケーキを購入。エリは自分の名前入りケーキに大興奮。ろうそくをつけ、上手に全て火を消すことができました♪Julia helped Ellie to blow the candles from far. I'm not sure if that even helped though.

遠くからジュリアもろうそくの吹き消しに「ふぅー！！」っと参戦してました。

Osechi this year

Japanese New Year is the biggest holiday in Japan. People prepare traditional Japanese New Year food called Osechi.

I made our own Osechi dish since this already became a Stocker family tradition. Mike even likes me preparing Osechi every year. There are foods that Mike doesn't like, but he looks Osechi more of family tradition and he is now used to it.

今年もお節を作りました。今年はベビーがいたので途中で授乳中断があったりしましたが、それを見越して事前に準備してあったのが良かったのか、昨年より早く終わりました。

Ellie even helped me to cut carrots. Flower shaped carrots are all Ellie's work!

今年はエリちゃんが、お節を手伝ってくれました。お花型のにんじんは、エリちゃんが型抜きしてくれたものです♪This year, I ordered directly from the crab boat. The box arrived on New Years Eve and Mike was excited to open it. But as soon as he opened the box, he closed right away. I was looking at him thinking "what is he doing???" And he goes, "It's moving..." Only in Japan would they send you live crabs on ice.

今年は、お正月のカニを漁船から直接取り寄せました。大晦日に届き、マイケルが意気揚々と開封。ところがマイケル、箱を開けた瞬間3秒ほど固まり、そして即効で開けた箱を閉めるではありませんか。「どうしたの？」というと、一言、「動いてる…。」どうやら新鮮すぎて、まだ生きていたのね。いいことじゃない、と思ったのはどうやら私だけ。マイケルは、かなりビビッていたようです。

Since I got my Osechi done earlier than usual, we got to go to Spohr's New Years Eve Party this year. It was so much fun and girls had a lot of fun.

お節料理がはやく終わったおかげで、今年はSpohr家の毎年恒例、大晦日パーティーに参加することもできました♪（毎年この時間はお節作ってるのよ…）子供達はとっても楽しかったようです。

Ellie and Julia First Sleepover

Right after Christmas, Mike and I got really sick. Unfortunaltey, Ellie and Julia's schools were out and they were at home. Since parents were sick and we could not watch the girls, Julia (I'm sure with the help of her older sister) decided to drink shower soap.

クリスマスの後、両親2人風邪でダウンしてしまいました。子供達は全く健康だったのですが、あいにく保育園もお休みに入っており、パワーの発散場所が無く家にいることに…。ところが、親の目が行き届かなかったため、なんとジュリアはBath and Body Worksのシャワージェルを一気飲み。さすがに慌てました。

We figured that we cannot take care of the girls, and we called for help. The very kind Spohr family came to help us right away, and they took Ellie and Julia for a night.

この状態では子供たちに目が行き届かない、と悟った私達。ヘルプを求めることにしました。そして、親切な友人の家族、Spohr家が手を差し伸べてくれて、エリとジュリアは初の両親から離れてのお泊りをすることになりました。

It was their first sleepover away from parents and they were so happy. It seems they had whole a lot of fun at the Spohrs. Julia didn't even say a word of "Mommy" or "Daddy." We went to pick them up next morning, but it seems that they still didn't come home...

初めてだったのでかなり心配したのですが、当の本人達はとっても楽しんできたようです。寿理亜の口からは、マミーのマの字も出なかったそうな…。（それはそれでちょっと寂しいですが。）お友達のティファニーと楽しく遊んで、翌日笑顔で帰ってまいりました。

Christmas Morning

Ellie and Julia was totally waiting for the Christmas because Santa was supposed to come and leave a gift for them. On Christmas Eve night, they sprinkled reindeer food in front of the front door so Santa won't miss them. They also made sure that cookie and milk are on the dining table.

クリスマスはエリとジュリアが心待ちにしていたイベントです。クリスマスイブの夜は、友人のReid宅でディナーパーティー。Papenfuss家族も一緒でエリやジュリアは上機嫌。子供達は皆でネイティビティーのシーンを披露し、エリはなんとマリア様役でした！ジュリアが最初はベビーイエス様の役だったのですが、おとなしくしていることができず、代役でノアが演じました。（この写真は後ほどアップします。）

そして、帰宅後こども達はサンタさんの準備。玄関にトナカイの餌をまき、ダイニングテーブルにはミルクとクッキーを置き、サンタさんの来訪準備完了。わくわくしながらご就寝でした。

The Christmas morning, Ellie and Julia found a big gift right by the tree!

そして翌朝、サンタさんからの大きなプレゼントを見つけた2人は大興奮！
Ellie got what she asked for, a trumpet. She was so happy when she found it. Julia got a toy stroller, which is her favorite.

エリは前からサンタさんに頼んでおいたトランペットをゲット。そして、ジュリアは大好きなベビーカーをゲットです。2人とも、サンタさんからのプレゼントに大興奮です。
They got bunch of other presents from everyone. It seems that jobs were well divided. Ellie to open all the gifts, and Julia to play with the gifts that Ellie brought out from the wrapper.

他にも人形、本、塗り絵等々、色々なプレゼントをたくさんの人々からいただきました。エリはプレゼントを開けるのに大忙し。ジュリアは、エリが開けたプレゼントで遊ぶのに大忙し。どうやら役割分担がきっちりなされていたようです。
One of Ellie's favorite is princess set that she got from Uncle Ken. She put them on right away and became a princess from top to bottom.

なかでもエリが一番気に入ったプレゼントはUncle Kenからのプリンセスセット。「今すぐ着る！」と駄々をこね、グランマ手作りのいただいたパジャマの上からプリンセスにに変身！ネックレス、イヤリング、ティアラ、全て装着し、本物のプリンセス気分満喫です。

Beginning to look a lot like...

As you all know, we were quite busy last month and it took us awhile to get our Christmas decoration out. But finally, our house is looking like Christmas now.

11月があわただしく過ぎ去っていき、既に12月も半ば過ぎ。なかなか時間がなくてクリスマスの飾りつけができなかったのですが、とうとうクリスマスデコレーションを引っ張り出してきました。

You see the paper tree that is growing direct as one of the branches is one of Ellie's Christmas craft. This tree was put on our tree under Ellie's precise direction. She wanted this paper tree up on the tree just like how it is...

今年のツリーのデコレーションは子供達が主に行ったので、色の統一感等は一切なし。おまけにイタズラが激しいため、子供達のデコレーション終了後、オーナメントは全てツリー上方に移動いたしました…。ちなみに、ツリー右上方、木から垂直に生えている紙のクリスマスツリーは、エリのクリスマス工作です。エリの「ここに飾る！」との主張により、この場所に落ち着きました…。When we start receiving Christmas cards, we feel Christmas are around the corner.

クリスマスカードが届き始めると、更にクリスマスが近づいてきななぁー、と実感します。Last year, we had only 4 stockings (and Julia's was pretty sad looking.) This year with Grandma's help, we got stockings for everyone in our family.

去年は4つしかなかったクリスマス靴下（おまけにジュリアのは寂しかった…）ですが、今年は家族も増え、5人分ちゃんとそろえました♪Nativities are one of my favorite things. This year, beautiful (was it Balisian?) Nativity came from Tami as a birthday gift.

ネイティビティーのセットは、私の大好きなコレクションなのですが、今年の誕生日プレゼントにTamiからいただいた素敵なネィティビティー。中にキャンドルが入れられるお洒落な一品。お気に入りです。And sugar cookies. When I bake these, I really feel Christmas is near.

そして、毎年恒例のシュガークッキーです。今年はエリがデコレーションを手伝ってくれました。これを焼くと、もうクリスマスはすぐそこです。（ちなみに、特大キャンディーケーンはダディー作です。）

Sad day

Today was Grandma's last day. We were very sad. We were so happy and blessed to have her for 1.5 weeks with us. We had a lot of fun with Grandma.

Thank you so much, Grandma!!

今日はグランマの最後の日。空港まで送りにいきました。ちょっと寂しかったけど、でも一緒にいた2週間はとっても楽しかったです。

We took Grandma to the airport to say bye. On the way back from the airport, girls wanted to go to Disneyland. We could not get that request, but we stopped right by the resort for dinner. We went to Pitta 00 for pizza and pasta. The dinner was really good and we certainly enjoyed. Girls even ate a lot. We were very satisfied with all the dishes.

空港の帰り道、エリとジュリアがディズニーランドに行きたいとリクエスト。さすがにディズニーランドはいけなかったので、ディズニーリゾートのモール、イクスピアリにて夕食です。今回は、Pitta 00にて、美味しいイタリアンをいただきました。

Ward Christmas Party

Ward Christmas Party this year was pretty fun, except... Julia got high fever after her nap and she ended up staying at hom with Grandma. So Grandma didn't get to come and we also up the time. We thought it started at 6:00 but with bad traffic we arrived at 6:30. But it actually started at 5:30. We were way late, but we had fun.

教会のクリスマスパーティー。今年はというと、直前ハプニング続出でした。まず、ジュリアがお昼寝のあと熱を出し、グランマとお留守番することに。そこで、エリ、ダディー、マミーの3人で繰り出すことになったのですが、教会までの道のりが大渋滞。さらに開始時間を完全に間違い、5時半スタートのパーティーに1時間遅刻…。大波乱のスタートです。

We didn't miss much. There were food still left when we got there. We were on time for all the programs. Nativity scene was performed by primary children and Ellie was one of the animals at the stable. (Well, she was a raindeer since she had her raindeer headband on.) Noah was baby Jesus.

大遅刻はしたものの、食べ物も残っていたし、プログラムにも間に合いました。子供達のネイティビティーの発表では、エリはイエス様のうまやにいた動物でした。どうやら、トナカイのヘッドバンドをしていたので、自分から志願してトナカイになった様です。ノアはベビーのイエス様でした。

At the end, Santa visited us. Ellie was scared last year and did not even get close, but this year she was fine being with Santa. We know Julia would be scared, but she was sick at home and didn't have to deal with it.

パーティーの最後にサンタさんがやってきました。去年のパーティーでは、エリはサンタが怖く結局近づくこともできなかったのですが、今年は全然大丈夫でサンタと記念撮影です。ジュリアはおそらく怖がったでしょうが、幸か不幸かジュリアはおうちでお留守番だったので大丈夫でした。

Palette Christmas

Ellie and Julia's school had a Christmas party. Each class was doing a little presentation on the stage.

エリとジュリアの保育園のクリスマス発表会です。今回はグランマも観に来てくれました。

Julia's class presentation was Tarzan singing and dancing. (Kids pick what they want to do, so most presentations end up being nothing to do with Christmas.) Julia got up on the stage smiling. ジュリアのクラスの発表は、ターザンダンスでした。（どうやら子供がやりたいことを選ぶらしく、ほとんどの発表はクリスマスと全く関係ないものになってしまうようです。）ジュリアは笑顔で登場。ご機嫌でステージに上がったのですが、音楽が始まると怖い顔で観客を凝視しておりました…。

Ellie's class all became Japanese little boy and sang "Kitakaze Kozo no Kantaro." (Sorry, don't know how to translate.) But two kids from her class started screaming cry and Ellie decided to join them. By the way, she fell and hurt her nose the day before, and the scar on her nose is coming from that...

エリのクラスは、「北風小僧の寒太郎」の発表です。こちらも笑顔で手を振りながら登場したものの、どうやらなにかがお気に召さなかったご様子。音楽が始まると、隣で泣きじゃくりのお友達に混ざって、終始ご機嫌斜め顔でした。（結局踊らなかった…）

ちなみに、エリのお鼻の上の傷は、前日に転んで怪我をしたものです。出血がひどく、病院にまで行って来ました…。
At the end of the party, we had Santa's visit. This Santa happens to be Mike every year. He gets asked by the school to do Santa for them. Older kids were asking questions to Santa and he was trying hard to answer all the questions in Japanese and English.

全ての発表の終了後は、サンタさんの登場です。（このサンタさん、実は中身はマイケルなのです。毎年保育園のご依頼で、サンタになりすますマイケルなのでした。）質問コーナーでは、子供達に質問を投げかけられるサンタさん。がんばって日本語と英語を混ぜながら、答えておりました。
Santa even got a question from the mayer of Shibuya ward.

中には、渋谷区長とのツーショットも。渋谷区長からのじきじきのねぎらいのお言葉と質問まで飛び出しました。
At the end of the party, we had picture opportunity with Santa. But Julia was not too appreciateive about the picture with Santa. She was scared of Santa. Santa even tried to reveal his identity, but no luck. She just did not like that picture moment.

最後にサンタさんとの記念撮影。…なのですが、ジュリアはどうもサンタが怖い！サンタさんからのだっこも拒み続けておりました。ダディーなのに…。
Ellie was fine with Santa this year. Last year, she was just like Julia crying and did not want to do anything with Santa. I guess she has grown. Nice but kinda sad...

エリの今年のサンタとの記念撮影は、滞りなく行われました。去年は今年のジュリアと全く同じ状況だったのですが、なんと成長したことか。親としてはうれしいけど、ちょっと寂しい…複雑な心境です。
