We had a wonderful Christmas this year.

今年のクリスマス。

Our Christmas tree. Simply does not look quite good but it's ok because kids decorated it. I'll work on prettiness next year once Noah understands that he should not take the ornaments and throw on the ground. He broke at least 5 of them...

さすがに子供3人いると、残念ながら理想のクリスマスデコレーションができません。今年はツリーは美しさを完全に諦め、子供たちが全てデコレーションしました。高いところも踏み台をつかってオーナメントを飾りました。それでもトラブルメーカーのノアには、ガラスのオーナメント、少なくとも5つは破壊されました…。We had a fun Christmas dinner with the Harpers on Christmas Eve night. Girls were having too much fun. Dinner was so tasty! I LOVE having dinner with fun people!! It makes everything great!

クリスマスディナーは、24日友人宅で。今年はとてもおいしいハムをゲット！ご賞味させていただきました。（カメラ修理中のため写真が撮れず…）エリとジュリアは、仲良しのお友達とはじけまくり！

Christmas morning. Ellie got her violin toy. Julia got a pizza toy. Noah got Rody. They were so happy! (Don't ask why Julia has her shirt off because I have no clue.)

25日、クリスマスの朝です。子供たちはまず、前の夜にテーブルに置いた、サンタさんへのクッキーと牛乳をチェック。ちゃんとなくなってました♪そして、サンタさんの置いていったプレゼントに大喜び。意気揚々と包装紙を豪快にやぶり、プレゼントをゲットしてました。

エリとジュリアの保育園のクリスマス発表会です。

こちらがエリの合唱です。Julia's little performance. she was a little embarrassed but did a wonderful job!

そして、ジュリアの発表。少々緊張していたのか、恥ずかしかったのか、はたまた集中力が持たなかったのか、発表中に色々一人で遊んでましたが、ちゃんと自分の出番の時には特大スマイルでしっかり発表できました！Ellie's skit. She was completely embarrassed for some reason and her voice was soft, but she did such an awesome job!

エリの「おおきなカブ」の発表です。（なぜクリスマスに「おおきなカブ」なのかは分かりません…）とーっても恥ずかしかったようで、いつもの大きな声が聞こえなかったのですが、これももちろん成長の一段階です。でも、途中から徐々にいつもの調子が出てきて、最後はしっかり発表できました。At the end, Santa visited us and it was not Mike this year! It was a REAL Santa!!

毎年恒例、最後にサンタさんの登場です。でも、今年はダディサンタではなく、本物のサンタがやってきました！We had a lot of fun this year as well. I'm sure we will miss Ellie's performance at Palette, but she will do a very good job in her next school!!

今年の発表が、エリのパレットでの最後の発表と思うと、かなり切ない思い出いっぱいですが、来年は別の学校でしっかりやってくれることでしょう。

Christmas Craft!!

We had relief society activity early this month and this is what I made! Of course all the parts were well prepared and I just had to put everything together, but still, I was pretty proud of myself for finishing this project!

今年のクリスマスは、サンタのクラフト作成をしました。土台の木は既に友人がカットしてくれてあり（勿論実際の作業は東急ハンズの店員さんですが）、簡単に出来るようにしていただいていたので、比較的短時間で完成です。

Santa's eyes are a little bit odd. I could have done a better job. I'm sure other people's Santas is probably better looking than mine, but I like my Santa! I think he is pretty good looking!!

まずは木材の色づけ。そして、模様をいれて、メインパーツを接着。ひげ、お洋服の細部を完成させ、土台と組み合わせ、最後にボタン、リボン等のデコレーションを入れて完成！ほっぺの紅の塗料が想定以上に多く付着してしまったのと、目がいまいち均等に出来なかったのですが、まぁまぁの出来でしょう。

Play Day with Coel

Noah had a play day with his friend, Coel. Coel and Noah are only 2.5 months apart. So we get together and have fun play days.

ノアのお友達、Coel君の家へ、遊びに行きました。Coelはノアと2ヵ月半しか変わらないので（ノアの方が若干お兄ちゃんです）、結構一緒に遊んでいただいているお友達です。

We got together a couple of months ago, but they were too young and didn't really show interest to each other, but this time, they looked like they were playing together!

前回一緒に遊んだのは数ヶ月前で、その時はあまりお互いを意識している姿はなかったのですが、今回はかなりお互いを意識し合い、一緒に遊んでいる感じが出てきておりました。成長を感じます。Here's Noah and his favorite toy car.

このカーズのラジコンパトカーが、ノアのお気に入りにでした。Coel was so nice that he celebrated Noah's delayed birthday! Noah got a great b-day gift too!! (and I regret not taking picture of Noah unwrapping present. It was quite funny.)

ノアのお誕生日が先月とあり、ちょっとしたバースデーもしていただき、プレゼントもいただいてしまいました。ありがとう！！Thanks, Serena and Coel for a fun play day! We need to do it again!!

Little Pony Ride

I and girls had a little spare time, so we decided to go to the pony park nearby our house.

The park is right by horse riding club next to Meiji Jingu and there are always several ponies there for kids to ride. Girls definitely had a fun time there!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year, we invited Ellie's school friends to our house for dinner. They were Japanese and they didn't know what Thanksgiving is all about, so it was fun introducing our tradition.

今年の感謝祭は、ご近所のエリ、ジュリアのお友達をご招待いたしました。Ｔくん家族とＲちゃん家族とみんなで、感謝祭ディナーを楽しみました。

This year, Haruyo got 17lb turkey for her birthday gift! (Thanks, Jennifer!!!) We cooked it with the recipe "Perfect Turkey" from Martha and it turned out pretty good. Our guests had never seen turkey that big, so they were so thrilled.

今年は、お友達のジェニファーから、お誕生日プレゼントに、と9kgの七面鳥をいただき（ありがとう！）、今回はマーサ・スチュワートのレシピを使ってローストしてみました。手間はかかりましたが、なかなか上手に焼け、大満足です。This is the whole table with other dishes. We certainly enjoyed our meal and had a great time with our friendship. We are thankful for all we have!

おいしい食事と共に、お友達と楽しいひと時を過ごすことが出来、大感謝です。ステキな感謝祭を、おくることができました。

Haruyo's Birthday Cake. I know that it looks like blue berry muffins, but that is what her husband was able to make. Haruyo's husband is extremely happy that Haruyo is his wife and mother of their 3 beautiful children. Hauryo did get a new bicycle for her birthday.

Noah is 1 year old now!

ノアは、１歳のお誕生日を迎えました！

Mommy made a special rubber ducky cake for him. (Thank you Linsey! It didn't look as good as yours, but it turned out okay.)

マミーのお手製、あひるのスペシャルケーキで、１歳のお誕生日をお祝いです。

ケーキの詳細：
土台：　フルーツカスタード入りスポンジケーキ
枠組みの木：　ココアで色付けしたシュガークッキー
石鹸：　フォンダンコーティングクッキー
あひる：　Sassyソフトラバーダッキー
泡：　色付けクリーム

このケーキ、思ったほど大変ではありませんでした。（エリのベルケーキの方が大変でした。）一番苦労したのは、枠組みのサイズ合わせでしょうか。（最終的に合わなかった…）クッキーを少々薄く作ってしまい、時間の経過と共に曲がったりしてしまいました。次回はもう少し厚めで焼かなくては。

Noah, we love you soooo much! We are so glad that you joined in our family. Your smile really make us all happy. Thank you for joining in our family!!

Noah in His Captain Chair

Noah is almost 1 year old. His recent favorite spot is to climb up in his captain chair... We'll have to get a child lock for this drawer very soon. Until then, he can enjoy being in his captain chair.

最近のノアです。もう１歳になるノア。現在流行のあそびは、ノアの特等席に座ること。残念ながら、この後すぐ、引き出しにチャイルドロックを仕掛けられ、特等席はあっさり封印されてしまいました♪

US Trip: Halloween with cousins

It took more than we thought it would, but we finally got to Logan, Utah.

アクシデント等もあり、少々予想を超えた時間がかかりましたが、ようやくローガンに到着。

And Halloween!! Girls were so excited about it because they get to go out trick or treating with their cousins!

そして、ハロウィーンです。エリ、ジュリアは、この日を心待ちにしておりました。なんといっても、大好きな従姉妹と一緒にトリック・オア・トリートに行くことが、とっても楽しみだったようです。

Girls decorated the pumpkins that they got at the pumpkin patch.

サンディエゴのパンプキンパッチでゲットしたパンプキンを、エリとジュリアで綺麗にデコレーションしました。なかなかの出来です。This year, Ellie was a snowflake fairy. She had tiara, wing, wand and everything, and she was so excited to be a snowflake fairy. Julia was a butterfly. She was excited because she gets to be just like what her older sister was. I'm not sure how long this will work though.

今年のエリは、雪の妖精です。ティアラ、はね、ワンドと、全て雪の妖精で揃え、エリは大興奮です！！ジュリアは、ちょうちょ。エリのお下がりですが、エリが着ていたものをジュリアも着ることができるとあり、こちらも大興奮。（ま、この興奮があと何年続くかは疑問です。そのうちお下がりが嫌になる年齢が来るのでしょう…。）And Noah was a pumpkin. It was a little girlish costume, but he was so cute in it. I think this will be a blackmail picture later on.

そしてノアは、パンプキン。ちょっと女の子っぽいコスチュームですが、ま、文句を言わない年齢なので良しとしましょう。They went trick-or-treating around neighborhoods. This is Ellie and Julia's first time experiencing Halloween in US. They had so much fun!

みんなでドレスアップし、ご近所をまわり、「Trick Or Treat！」エリ、ジュリアの初めてのアメリカでのハロウィン、めちゃめちゃ楽しんでおりました。

US Trip: Visiting Gramie

On the way from San Diego to Utah, we stopped in Southern Utah to see Gramie. We stayed one night at Cider City, and there was SNOW!! It was freezing COLD!

楽しかったサンディエゴを後にし、グランマ、グランパの待つユタへ向かう途中、南ユタで一休み。Ceder Cityで一泊したのですが、なんと、雪が！！気候が温暖なサンディエゴで２週間滞在して、半そでで過ごしていた私たちにとっては、とてつもないギャップです。

Gramie looked great. We were so happy to see her. Kids were a little out of control at the place, but I hope everything was ok. We certainly enjoyed visiting Gramie.

南ユタに住んでいる、グラミーに会いに行きました。グラミーは、マイケルのおばあちゃん、子供たちのひいおばあちゃんです。なんと子供たちがグラミーに会うのは初めて。かなり緊張しており、ジュリアなんぞ、「誰？？」というかたーいお顔。でも、しばらくしたら、緊張はほぐれました。

US Trip: Trunk Or Treating

Another great part about being in San Diego was to hang out with Skousons! They used to live in Tokyo and we had so much fun together. Now they moved to San Diego and we got to see them again!

Memri was so nice to us and watched kids several times while we were there. Thank you Memri!!

サンディエゴにいて素晴しかったことの１つは、スカウザン家族に再会できたことです。以前東京のご近所に住んでいていつも一緒だったのですが、帰国してしまったのです。現在サンディエゴ在住で、今回再会することができました！

On the very last evening before we were off to Utah, we got to attend the church activity right by Skousan's home. It was "Trunk Or Treating." Kids wore costumes and went around car to car to get candies.

サンディエゴ最後の夜、スカウザン家の近くで行われたアクティビティー、「トランク・オア・トリーティング」に参加することができました。いわゆるハロウィンのアクティビティーで、車のトランクをハロウィン仕様に飾り付け、ご近所を回る替わりに車を一台一台回るというもの。もちろん子供たちはコスチュームを着ての参加です。Ellie's costume this year was supposed to be Snowflake Fairy, but her costume was delivered to Utah since we planned to be in Utah for Halloween. So, everyone had to wear last year's costumes.

今年のエリは、「雪の妖精」の予定だったのですが、エリのコスチュームはユタのグランマの家に届いているため、今回はみんな、去年のコスチュームを着ていただきました。

So, Ellie is a butterfly, Julia was a pumpkin, and Noah being a black kitty.

というわけで、エリはちょうちょ。ジュリアは、パンプキンです。両方とも、Gymboreeです。ベビーから小さい子供用のコスチュームは、ここが一番かわいいと思います。（お洋服もかわいいものぞろいで、結構このお店でショッピングさせていただいております。）ただ、エリのサイズは既に4Tなので、そろそろ卒業。かなり悲しかったりしてます…。

ノアは、黒ネコ。しかし、どうもコスチュームが気に入らないのか、すぐ脱いじゃうんですよね…。これは、貴重な一枚です。

US Trip: Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch at Bates Nut Farm. There were pony ride, hay ride, maze, etc. Girls had so much fun.

ベイツナッツファームのパンプキンパッチに、行ってきました。ポニーライド、ヘイライド、迷路と、数々のアクティビティーぞろいで、エリ、ジュリアは大興奮でした。Ellie and Julia LOVED their pony rides.

エリ、ジュリアとも、ポニーに乗り、テンション最高潮！Noah LOVED his hay ride.

ノアは、ヘイライドが大好きだったようです。Ellie and Julia picked their favorite pumpkins. They LOVED it!

最後に、エリとジュリアで、パンプキン選びです。いっぱいありすぎて、どれがいいのか迷ってしまってます。

US Trip: SeaWorld and Lego Land

San Diego! World famous SeaWorld is there. We finally got Daddy back from his business conference, so Uncle Stan and Aunt Dorothy took us there. Girls had so much fun going with their cousin Taylor.

サンディエゴでの有名どころといえば、シーワールド。ダディのビジネスカンファレンスもようやく終了し、戻ってきてくれたので、みんなで出かけることに。兄家族が年間パスポート保有者だったため、連れて行ってくれることになり、家族全員お安くチケットを購入することができました。First we hit Shamu show. I was curious about the wet zone, Stan and Dorothy told me I'd better stay away, and I was SO glad I stayed away. I for sure did not want to be soaked down from top to bottom.

The show was awesome. Girls had a lot of fun watching Shamu doing bunch of tricks.

まずは、シャムーのショーを見学。数々のトリックに、エリとジュリアは釘付けでした。Then we had lunch at "Dine with Shamu." Food was great. What was really cool about it was that we got so close to Shamu. Shamu came right by us while we were eating.

その後、ランチをシャムーと共にいただくことができました。食事をしていたテーブルのすぐ横にシャムーが顔を出し、エリ、ジュリアは大興奮です。This is at the polar bear place. There was a wall of ice right where we were walking. Ellie goes, "It's sooo cold!!!"

白くま館です。通路の壁が、北極の氷でできており、エリ、ジュリアは、「冷たーい！！」We also got to take pictures with Sesami street characters. JuJu wasn't sure about getting too close to Elmo.

セサミ・ストリートのキャラクターと一緒に、写真撮影。どうもジュリアは、キャラクターに近づきすぎると未だに固まります。After SeaWorld, we went to Old Town San Diego to have dinner. We wanted Mexican, and Stan and Dorothy recommended Old Town Mexican Cafe. It was DELICIOUS!!! Ladies were cooking tortillas right in front of the restaurant and they were SOOOO GOOD!!!

シーワールドの後、サンディエゴのOld Townに出向き、メキシカンディナーをいただきました。兄夫婦のお勧めレストラン、Old Town Mexican Cafe。レストランのすぐ横で、女性数名が手作りトルティーヤ焼いているという、風情あふれるレストランです。この焼き立てのトルティーヤが、絶品なのです！是非一度ご賞味あれ。

At the restaurant, Daddy hired a balloon making guy for girls. Ellie got Shamu balloon and Julia got Elmo one. They were so happy.　It was a very good entertainment for them since they were so board and out of control at the restaurant.

レストランで、ダディが風船のおじさんを雇い、エリとジュリアにキャラクター風船のプレゼント。エリはシャムーを、ジュリアはエルモを作ってもらいました。レストランで飽き始めていた子供たちにとっては、絶好のエンターテイメントとなりました。
We also went to Legoland California. All the rides were towards little kids. There were several that Julia could not ride, but Ellie was able to ride almost everything. Girls had so much fun.

I was just fascinated by the statues made out of logos. It was amazing!!

レゴランド・カリフォルニアにも、行ってきました。ほとんどのライドは、小さな子供向けだったので、子供たちにはぴったり。ジュリアには、身長制限で乗れないものがいくつかありましたが、エリはほとんど乗れるもんばかり。たくさん遊んで来ました。

何より驚いたのが、全てレゴでできているオブジェの数々。ニューヨークやラスベガス、インドやフランスなどの景色がミニチュアレゴで再現されていて、びっくりです。Noah was a happy boy all day too!

ノアも大喜びで、楽しい一日をレゴランドで過ごしました。
