Trip to Yellowstone National Park

One of the highlight of our US trip was the family trip to Yellowstone National Park. Either the girls or Mom had never been there, we were very excited and had fun surrounded by the great nature.

アメリカ滞在中、ユタから少々足をのばし、ワイオミング州にあるイエローストーン国立公園に家族で行ってまいりました。エリ、ジュリアはもちろんママも行ったことがなかった国立公園だったので、大自然に囲まれて、とてもステキな夏の思い出になりました。
なんといっても壮大な自然と野生動物たちに圧倒された、というのが率直な感想でしょうか。3日間という短い間でしたが、とても満喫してきました。

It was such a long drive from Logan, Utah (where Grandma and Grandpa are) to the Yellowstone, the girls got bored and had to get out of the car once in a while. This is a huge ranch right by the freeway pretty close to the park. Scenarios were beautiful and girls had a lot of fun picking flowers.

滞在先のユタから車での移動だったのですが、アイダホ州を経由してワイオミング州の国立公園西口からのエントリー。長時間ドライブだったので、子供達は車の中で退屈になってしまうことが時々ありました。そんなときは、車を路肩につけてお外でちょっくら気分転換。ホントなにもないド田舎でしたが、その場で見つけたたんぽぽの綿毛を吹いたりして楽しんでいた子供達です。

As soon as we entered the park, we saw a buffalo. Ellie was so excited and wanted to greet with him (we of course stopped her.) We also saw deer shortly after and Ellie was so happy.

公園内に入ると、早速野生のバッファローとのご対面。大興奮のエリ。「いいこいいこする～！」と言いだし、説得に苦労しました…。その後、幸運にも野生の鹿ともご対面。超ハッピーなエリちゃんです。（鹿はおしりだけの写真ですが…）

We stayed at Red Lodge in Montana on the first night. From Yellowstone to Red Lodge, we drove above the treeline. It was such a gorgeous view. There were still snow on top of the mountain and Ellie had fun playing with snow. Julia on the other hand was dead asleep in the car...

その日の晩はYellowstoneからさらにドライブを続け、モンタナ州のレッドロッジでステイ。ここまでのドライブの景観がまたゴージャスそのもの！山越えのドライブなのですが、木が生息できる標高をさらに越えるため、ある一定の高さまで来ると木の存在がぱったりとなくなるのです！頂上まで来ると、どこで木が途絶えるのかのTreelineがばっちり見える。スゴかった。
頂上には雪が残っており、エリは真夏の雪遊び。（ジュリアはというと、車の中で熟睡です…）

On day 2, we went around all over in the park. We saw natural hot springs, geysers, etc. The Old Faithful geyser was really amazing and we enjoyed watching the water shooting up on the air.

2日目は、国立公園内めぐりです。間欠泉や天然温泉、滝などいろいろ観て回りました。なにせ広大なスケールの公園なので、1つの観光スポットから次に行くまでにも車で30分以上かかることがざら…。でも、立ち寄るところは各所にあり、ドライブしながらも野生動物を見ることができ、楽しいドライブでした。やっぱりハイライトは、オールドフェイスフル間欠泉。ほとんど予測された時間どおり、すごい勢いでお水を空中に噴き上げている姿に感動です。
We were pretty lucky and we got to see many wild animals along the way. We saw a wolf, moose (or elk), grizzly beer, black beer, etc. Ellie liked the little squirrel we found while we were waiting for the Old Faithful Geyser. She was chasing after him, but of course he was way faster than Ellie...

今回、本当にラッキーなことに、オオカミ、ムース、熊などなど、野生動物として出くわすのが結構珍しい動物も見ることができました。ムースなんか、車のすぐそばのところでゆっくり草を食べていたので、かなり大感激！おまけに黒と茶色の熊まで見ることができました！エリの大のお気に入りはリスでした。間欠泉噴出までの待ち時間に見つけたリスさん、エリは追い掛け回しておりましたが、やっぱりリスさんのほうが速かった…。

Visiting Friends in Utah

One of the things that we always do when we are in Utah is to visit our friends. We went to see Standings and Siebachs.

ユタに行くとまず、ユタのお友達との再会を試みます。Standing家族とSiebach家族の家に今回はご訪問させていただきました。

The Siebachs had a beautiful pool on their backyard and Ellie had a blast time.

Siebach家にはお庭にとてもステキなプールがあり、エリはとてつもない勢いで、はしゃいで遊びまくりです。

Julia, on the other hand, was not sure about getting into the pool (she had a death grip onto Mommy). But she certainly had a lot of fun with the pool toys OUTSIDE of the pool.

一方、ジュリアはというもの、どうもプールの中はお好きではない様子。強行しがみつき状態です…。だけど、プールサイドでのお遊びは大得意。

そして、食べるのも、もちろん超得意です。
We had such a fun time. Thank you so much, Siebach family and Standing family. We'll come visit again (if you don't mind!)

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa

It's summer time and we are at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Logan, Utah! It was a long flight for us and also Ellie and Julia, but they made it all the way. Julia mostly slept on the plane, so it was not too bad. Ellie didn't sleep like Julia did, but she quietly watched her favorite "Little Einstein" shows on Daddy's phone. So I say everything was good.

毎年恒例のユタへの里帰りです。今年は夏にしてみました。飛行機の道のりは、エリとジュリアにとっては長かった…。でも、今回はたまたまお友達の家族と一緒だったので、結構楽しみました。ジュリアが一番心配だったのですが、サンフランシスコまでの9時間の飛行中、結構ずっとねててくれてかなり助かりました。エリはというと、用意周到に持って行ったiPodで大好きな「リトル・アインシュタイン」に熱中。これまた静かに見入っていてくれてラッキー。その後の乗り継ぎ便では、日本時間夜中というのもあり、飛行機に乗った瞬間みんなで熟睡。ソルトレークシティまで到着です。そこから車で1時間半の道のりを何とかこなし、無事、マイケルの地元、Loganにたどり着きました。

Ellie was so happy to see Grandma and Grandpa. We thought she would not remember, but she certainly did.

エリはおじいちゃん、おばあちゃんに再会できてとってもハッピーです。年に1-2回しか会えないので、覚えてないかと思ったのですが結構覚えていて、再会した瞬間に飛びついていきました。


We thought the girls would have hard time with the jet lag, but they did pretty good. They slept a long time on the first night and seemed adjusted after that. They had a long nap on the first night together in Grandma's crib. (The crib was supposed to be for Julia, but Ellie jumped in.)

エリ、ジュリアとも時差ボケが激しいのでは、と思ったのですが結構そうでもなく、初日の夜ぐ～っすりねむりこけて翌日からは結構大丈夫でいつもどおり活発に動いておりました。ただ、初日のお昼寝がちょっと長め（ま、仕方ないですが。）おばあちゃんに用意してもらったベビーベッドで仲良くお昼寝です。（ベッドはジュリア用だったのですが、エリが乱入しました。）


This is Ellie and Julia's cousin, Nate. He is looking really good!

いとこのNateです。エリはNateが結構お気に入りだったようです。


Ellie loved getting on the swing there. She sometime has to fight with Nate to get in. She especially loves when her cousin, Sarah was pushing her.

エリは、おばあちゃんの家にある木にかかったブランコが大好き♪時々Nateと取り合いになるぐらいの執着ぶりです。エリのいとこのSarahに押してもらってのブランコが大好きのようです。

Ellie Photoshoot

Ellie had her model photo shoot 3 days in a row. The first day was at Yoyogi park and next 2 days were at the studio in Itabashi.

3日連続で、愛理のモデルの仕事が入りました。初日は代々木公園でのロケ、そして次の2日間は板橋のスタジオでした。

They are shooting winter clothes and it was a little hard wearing winter clothes in the hot days. But Ellie did a great job.

秋冬カタログの撮影のため冬物を着ての撮影なので、この時期のロケは暑くて大変なのですが、お天気も比較的涼しい日で、ラッキーでした。愛理も良くやってくれました。

She did the shoot for kids desk and chair. All Ellie had to do was to draw pictures and smile at the camera. It was an easy take. This is Ellie's masterpiece during the shoot.

子供用机とイスのモデル撮影だったので、愛理はお絵かきをしていれば良いだけの、とっても楽なシーンでした。撮影中のお絵かきで出来上がった作品はこちら。

Ellie has been a model for quite a lnog time and has many experiences. I think she is now used to look at the camera and smile when she needs to. She does quite good job during the shoot.

愛理のお仕事は、結構楽に進みます。赤ちゃん当時から撮影しているのと、結構場数踏んでるのとで、最近慣れてきたらしい。「愛理ちゃんの場所はここ。」と言えば、自分の立ち位置から動かないし、「こっち向いてー」でカメラを見て、「笑ってー」で、笑ってくれる。モデルとしては、結構ナイスな仕事をしてくれて、ママの私はとっても助かってます。

Ellie and Serene

Ellie's favorite friend, Serene, sent the cutest pictures. Ellie loves her so much and she talks about her too. (always not making sense what she is trying to say though.)

We're doing our annual visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house next week and we just found out that we are flying together with Papenfuss family. Ellie is going to enjoy our travel to Utah. Hopefully, she will not wake up everyone around her seat (She did that once).

愛理の大好きなセリンからとってもキュートな写真をいただきました。愛理はセリンが大好きで、時々おしゃべりにも出てきます。（理解不可能は文章にセリンの名前が入っているのが通常ですが…）

来週、毎年恒例のユタのおじいちゃんおばあちゃんの家に行くのですが、ユタまでの飛行機が偶然Papenfuss家と同じだったのです！今からとっても楽しみな愛理ちゃんです。

Julia's booboo

Ellie and Julia went to the park with Daddy. There was a slide and they had so much fun.

今日愛理と寿理亜は、夕方買い物ついでにDaddyと一緒に公園で遊んできました。大きな滑り台があり、とっても楽しんできました。

Julia as usual likes to climb up the slide backwards.

寿理亜はいつものことですが、滑り台を逆に上るのがお好き。（上までは登れませんが…）

Ellie likes going down the slide really fast.
愛理は、猛スピードで滑り降りるのがお好き。

Julia tried to go down the slide like superman. It was so much fun sliding down, but...

今回は寿理亜も滑り台挑戦！スーパーマンみたいに頭から滑ってみることにしました。滑ってるときはとっても楽しかったのです。ホントに。でも…

This is the picture of 30 seconds after the picture above. She didn't land successfully, well, she landed successfully from her face and got a big booboo on her face. Looking so sad...

30秒後の写真です。着地に見事に失敗し、顔面から着地。鼻と口がとっても寂しい寿理亜でした…。

Opera date

We figure that every once and a while we need a break from our kids. Today we left our kids with the babysitter and went on a date to watch the Opera "La Traviata" at Tokyo Opera Palace. We have been to the opera often.

Anyway, tonight's opera was in Italian and everything was really beautiful. Music was gorgeous and the show was very beautiful. We really enjoyed our date tonight.

今日は子供達はベビーシッターに預け、久々のデートでオペラ鑑賞に行ってまいりました。うちは新国立劇場から歩いて3分の立地なので、オペラは結構行きます。ミュージカルも好きですが、オリジナル言語そのままで鑑賞ができるオペラをやはり好んで観ます。

今夜のオペラは「椿姫」。オーケストラの美しい演奏とステキな舞台で、とっても楽しいデートとなりました。

Little Sunday Moment with Princesses

Ellie and Julia were both excited about the matching outfits again. Ellie asked Mommy, "Matching outfit??" then Mom said "yes", and Ellie goes "Yeah!!"

愛理と寿理亜でおそろいのお洋服です。最近愛理は（英語ですが）「おそろい」という言葉を覚え、しきりに聞いてきます。「そうだよ。」と言ってあげると、「イェーイ！」とうれしそうなリアクションをしてくれます。

Ellie and Julia were in matching outfits in the afternoon too. They went for a walk to the park and had a fun time together.They both liked the slide. Ellie went first, and Julia decided to follow after her sister.

午後も公園へ、おそろいでお散歩です。2人とも、滑り台が大好きです。まず愛理が滑り出し、あとを追うように寿理亜も滑っていきます。

お砂場では、仲良しの2人で、まったくもって仲良く汚れてくれます。

Ward Closing Social

We had ward closing social at Komaba park. It was such a gorgeous day and kids had a lot of fun. Ellie and Julia had a matching outfit and they were so happy together.

本日、またまたお天気快晴の土曜日。ワードのクロージングソーシャルで、駒場公園に出かけました。愛理と寿理亜はおそろいのお洋服で、超ご機嫌のお出かけです。

It is so sad to realize that some families are moving away from Tokyo. Ellie loved playing with the girls. She will be so sad without Samantha and Brinlee in our ward.

毎年のことですが、この時期いつも悲しいのが、引っ越していく友人達を見送らなくてはならないこと…。今年はFrazier家が東京を離れてしまうので、とても寂しいです。特に愛理は、SamanthaとBrinleeがいなくなってしまうので、寂しく思っていることでしょう。（今状況を理解できているかは疑問ですが…）

The Nygaards are the other family moving out. We'll definitely miss them. We wanted a happy family picture moment with Priscilla, but Julia was just not cooperating...

Nygaard家もこの夏で東京を去ってしまいます。今回、Priscillaと記念のベストショットを撮るはずが、寿理亜はどうもこの日は誰が抱いてもご機嫌斜め…。愛理が寿理亜の様子を気にしているこの一枚が撮れました。

Ellie played with Julia first. Then, she started playing with everyone. She really liked playing bubbles with Anthon.

最初は寿理亜とボールで遊んでいた愛理ですが、そのうちAnthonとシャボン玉遊びです。とても楽しかったようで、結構長時間居座っていました。

Dinner with the princesses

This is daily scene of our dinner table. Julia eats a lot of food (definitely more than Ellie eats) which is not a bad thing, but Julia still does not know how to deal with spoon and fork, so she has to use her hands and everything gets really really messy...

これはストウカー家の日常のディナー風景です。ジュリアはたくさん食べるのですが（エリより確実にたくさん食べます。）どうもスプーンとフォークの使い方がわかっておらず、スプーン、フォークは最初にどこかに飛んでいき、その後は手づかみでの食事です。おかげでまぁ、ありとあらゆる場所を汚してくれます…。

Good morning Princesses

This morning Daddy went right into the girls room and woke them up to take pictures. Ellie is so not sure what is going on.

本日朝からDaddyが子供部屋に突入。寝起きのプリンセスを写真におさめようという魂胆です。朝っぱらから何事だと思わせるようなDaddyの乱入に、迷惑極まりない2人です。

Julia woke up pretty quick and gave Daddy a smile.
ジュリアは結構あっさりおきて、カメラに向かってポーズしてました。

Ellie finally woke up too and smiled at the camera.
エリちゃんも時間はかかりましたが、ようやくおきて、ビッグスマイルです。
